I’m a Husband, Dad, and fairly normal 30 something year old dude. Recently I became interested in learning more about how to prepare myself and my family for natural disasters and other emergencies while still maintaining my sanity.
It’s not that I lay awake at night worried about government overthrow’s (although sometimes I do that for fun), but a few weeks ago our city water was cut off for about 24 hours due to an accident at a construction site. That 24 hours SUCKED. The toilets wouldn’t flush, no water for drinking, and no water for cooking. Luckily we happened to have a few water bottles laying around with some water we could drink, and a quick trip to the grocery store is all it would have taken to acquire much more water. But I was kicking myself for not having a few gallons of water handy for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and most importantly flushing those toilets.
That ’emergency’ while small has led me down quite a rabbit hole of learning about what I need, how to go about it, and how to be better prepared in the future for emergencies large and small. Come with me on this journey!
